Until further notice…

Ignore my previous note about the need to register to post comments. I’ve turned off the commenting option all together until I can figure out what’s going on. It might just be comment spammers looking to place spam in my entries, or someone more malicious. Regardless, it’ll just be comment-less for awhile.

Gadget lust

It seems I’ve been struck by a serious case of gadget lust. This isn’t a new thing, really. What makes this go around different is the fact that I’m being the mature, responsible adult, and not rushing out and purchasing these objects of my desire on a whim. Or, to be more blunt, I balance what I have in my savings account, against what I have in my checking account, against what I have in my wallet, and just have to conclude that I don’t have the money.

It probably doesn’t help matters any that one of the blogs I read on a daily basis is Gizmodo. They have daily reviews of just about every cool gadget a geeky biker like myself could want. From the seriously geeky to the seriously swanky, the site has it all, and then some.

So what’s tickling the gadget lust nerve in my body currently? Well, I’m so glad you asked. Why don’t we have a looksee…

  • “>nikonFirst up is the Nikon D70, one of the finest sub-$1000 dSLR’s on the market right now. I say “finest” because that’s what I’ve read. I currently have a Nikon N65 and have been impressed by it’s durabilty, as well as the quality of the pictures. At $999, however, the D70 is barely a sub-$1000 camera. And that’s only the body. If you want a lens, that’ll be an extra $200. Fortunately, the lens I have on my N65 is compatible with the body of the D70. And for a digital SLR, that’s a great price. If I really had the cash to spend, I’d go with the Nikon D2X, but that’s definitely a pro model and quite out of my league.
  • “>Sony ClieIt seems everyone at work either has a PDA, cell phone, or a hybrid of both. I have neither a PDA nor a cellphone, but I think the Sony Clie PDA would fill in the PDA gap quite nicely. It does everything you’d expect a PDA to do with an organizer, games and productivity suite. Some models also come equipped with a built-in camera and a qwerty thumb keyboard. There’s also an MP3 player, but that’s not that important to me for reasons that’ll soon be clear.
  • “>iPodLast on my list, and the reason I don’t need the MP3 player in my PDA, is the Apple iPod. This has quickly become one of Apple’s best selling products and their iTunes Music Store has had over 100 million downloads. Amazing. I’d love to have an iPod for when I’m stuck in the lab and want to tune everything else out. I’d love to have an iPod for when I’m on the road and there’s just nothing good on the radio. I’d love to have an iPod. Simple as that. Hrm…my birthday and Christmas is just around the corner…*hint hint*

With that many gadets, I think I’ll need to get some of those cargo pants with 462 different pockets so I can hold all my stuff and carry it along with me.

Note: I’ve changed this journal over to members only, meaning if you want to post, you have to register. I’ve noticed some funky activity going on, and rather than get hacked like in times previous, I’ve decided to lock it down a bit. This shouldn’t inconvenience anyone, as I think only one or two people have actually commented here.
