Politics (NaBloPoMo Day 7)
This past election was probably the most interested I’ve ever been where local politics are concerned. The county board of supervisors that were voted in last go-around turned out to be quite the bunch of morons. Loudoun county had a policy of slow growth, as decided by the voters. As soon as the board was sworn in last time, a good number of them started making plans to sell land to developers, and one of the individual members took over the Chairman of the Board position, even though the voters had voted the person they wanted in.
I’m happy to say that the person who took over as Chairman was soundly defeated, as were several others of his clique. The original Chairman is back in place and we have new board members, so now hopefully we can begin to feel positive about Loudoun’s future again. I’m glad I voted in the local election this time around – I really feel like my vote counted, and it sent a message to those butt-heads that are on the way out the door. Good riddance.
