IconBuffet

Jan 14 2006 Published by under Graphics & Design

IconBuffet is pretty much what it sounds like, a site to get icons. They obviously cost money, but what’s cool about IconBuffet however, is that you can sign up for a free delivery of a set of icons once a month. Once you have one or more sets available to you, you can send them to your friends.

Currently, I have the Shanghai Tech and Shanghai Smilies icon sets. If anyone’s a member and would like to trade, let me know! There’s a couple of other sets there that I’d like to have. I’m an icon junkie (which is so easy to become when you own a Mac), and want to have as many as possible.

Mac & CSS & MSIE = bleah

Feb 22 2005 Published by under Graphics & Design

I’ve been tasked to do a few different websites now, three for fun, one for work, and after going through a bunch to template and photoshop sites for ideas, I have to say, I suck.

But I know what sucks about my designs at least. Or at least think I do. They seem a bit flat, and not as eyecatching as several others out there. So, I guess I need to work on that.

Oh, and designing on a Mac is wonderful and I love it and all, but dammit, someone remind me next time to check the layout on MSIE before I get too far down the road. I spent all weekend on a layout (all CSS naturally) only to discover it was totally hoarked in MSIE (That’s a great sounding non-word. Hoarked!!!). So, because of time constraints, I opted to throw it in a table and now I’m basically back where I started.

Webwork coming outta my ears

Jan 25 2005 Published by under Graphics & Design

I have found myself suddenly quite busy with three different websites to build. One I have 95% done, one is pretty much all done, I’m supposed to just “pretty” it up, and the last needs to be built from scratch. It’s for my HOG Chapter’s annual Memorial Day Run, called Ride of the Patriots. The Chapter and dealership we’re associated with purchased the domain, and now they need a website built. Wanting to be more involved, I voluntered.

Between schoolwork and webwork, I’m going to be quite busy for the next few months. It should be fun though, I enjoy web design and creation, and schoolwork is my creative writing class, i.e., I get to write stories. We were supposed to write a quick story, about 1 1/2 to 2 pages, using a technique called juggling. I wrote 8 pages, and then after editing, managed to get it down to 4. And that wasn’t even thinking about it.

I’m worried that I’ll get a bad grade now, simply ’cause it seemed so easy to write. Writing is a good creative outlet, as it the web design bit. I can’t draw worth squat (like some people I know) so I need SOMETHING to get rid of the tedious humdrum that is a QA Engineer’s job.

More CSS Woes…

Jun 02 2004 Published by under Graphics & Design

Yes…I’m at it again.

Leave me alone…

–edit–

Ok, that was relatively painless, and I bet no one even looked and saw the gobbly-gook that my blog had become.

Just don’t look at the comments section yet :)

Don’t anyone move or sneeze or anything. I actually got the layout looking the same in IE as well as Firefox, Mozilla and Safari.

Holy crap. I feel like I just gave birth to an elephant.

As an addendum to the previous entry, I just noticed the layout in MSIE sucks ass. Well…what more could you expect? Get a real browser (Former is for windows, latter for Mac…)

Damnit.

Getting there…

Apr 07 2004 Published by under Graphics & Design

Ok, I’m finally getting this to look how I want it to look. Nice and tidy, and very grey. I’ll have to do something about that, but I wanted the colors low key for now until I get the layout all squared away. I have a lot of work still: I need to get the comments into the same format, as well as any other pages I have lying around, not to mention getting the photo’s and other sections up. But the blog itself is starting to look a bit better.

So, now if I could just keep my grubby little paws off the CSS file, I’d be fine.

CSS fun…

Ok, so it’s mostly back to “normal”, or at least what passes for normal around these parts. Now if I could just get the right side navigation menu’s background to go all the way down the bottom of the page, I’d be happy.

Guess I’ve got more work to do.

Yes, it’s a bit slow here at work today….

Leave well enough alone!

I keep breaking the layout.

I’m trying to go with a more centered look, similar to my Harleyroads site, but I’m trying to do it all with CSS. Naturally, I’m screwing it all up.

Ah well. The fun of experimentation :)
